Building our Virtual Community

COVID 19 Update: Vince and I wanted to check in with all of you and see how everyone is doing.  Our community was just coming together before the social distancing began and we would like to create a weekly space for you to check-in if you are interested.  This will give us the opportunity to have inspiration midweek and also build our community.  We have discussed having our “meetings” continue as many have done through Zoom conferencing.  The link is below.  Some topics:  What is keeping you inspired?  What are you doing differently?  Have any BIG ideas emerged for you?  This is a time of great transition and we are here to support this community.

We have been doing a lot of unplanned renovations to the little Barn.  The recent storms have made our “future project” to redo the barn foundation more critical, so we have rebuilt the north foundation.  A huge improvement!  These changes will secure our space for many generations to come!  If you are interested, our property (though muddy right now in spots, so wear boots) is a wonderful resource to walk and get with nature if you need a space.  Just text me at 302-521-8789 to set up a time…we know social distancing is important and being outside is a great way to get out safely.

Something new is being birthed into this world.  This is an opportunity to build the beautiful world we hoped for, and right now that means doing the inner work to understand who we are and why we are here. I recently finished my book, The Civil Graces Project, before this crisis, and it has taken on a life of its own.  I am continuing to write how we can use this transformative moment to redesign our world for the better:   https://civilgraces.com/2020/03/24/bearing-our-crown/
One of our participants and I were talking about the analogy of the “eye of the needle” or the “camel’s gate” where the traveler had to unpack all their loads in order to enter.  In a very real way, we are unpacking our lives and are discovering what is essential.  Having conversations on the BIG ideas is an essential part of our journey…we hope you will join us as often as you can.  We will reschedule our little barn events as soon as it becomes possible.

In the meantime, if you need anything, please let us know!

Elizabeth & Vince

Pioneer Circle Event!

Saturday, January 25th 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Explore the 2020’s with Delaware futurist Jim Lee.

Location: Seventh Academy, 413 McFarlan Rd suite a, Kennett Square, PA 19348.

Learn about seven “mega-trends” that will dramatically change how we live, work, and play in the next decade.   We’ll also engage our collective intuitions in considering the unexpected “ripple effects” for these trends.  Jim is the founder of StratFI, a boutique investment advisory firm in Wilmington, Delaware.  His previous book, Resilience and the Future of Everyday Life (2012), anticipated the “gig economy”, gender-blending, the shift towards local/artisanal foods, alternative currencies, access vs. ownership, and the tiny home movement.

Please message us to let us know you will be coming at littlebarnofbigideas@gmail.com

Possibility of Peace

As we enter a new decade, the mystical year 2020, we are all invited to bring the light of our ideas to the world. At the Little Barn of Big Ideas, we have asked three questions to guide you on that journey of discovery: Who are you? What are you passionate about? How does this relate to your world–the people you love, the things you do, your reason for being, etc.?

There are a lot of words spoken every day, and we believe that words and the actions that follow have a tremendous meaning as well as impact in our world. Ideas create the world we see. One of our BIG ideas for 2020 is that there is the possibility of Peace in the world. By setting that intention and focusing on that idea, we literally create Peace.

You are invited to join us as we light 196 candles around the pond at Chadds Peak Farm on Sunday, January 5th at 5 p.m. on the eve of the feast of the Epiphany…one candle for every country in the world that will burn together and create light in the world. Epiphany translated means “to manifest.” We will unite as we quietly manifest a decade of Peace!

Carl Jung wisely stated, “what we resist persists and grows in size.” When we say “no war”…we create war by giving energy to that possibility. Instead, let us create a visual reminder that we are all called to nobly usher in our genius around the idea that Peace is Possible!❤️
